A Bohemian Farm Baptism in Athens
Sandra and Makis reached out to us from Switzerland to design and plan their daughter’s baptism in Athens for Spring of 2022.
They were inclined towards a small and cozy venue as they were keen on an intimate baptism of less than 100 guests. They expressed that they envisioned a Bohemian theme with a moody yet trendy spring colour palette of mustard yellow, olive green, dusty coral and cream. We absolutely loved this combination!
We started the planning process by finding the perfect venue for them and after they visited the recommended premises – they absolutely fell in love with the Margi Farm in the outskirts of Athens. A quaint location, surrounded by nature and well-kept farm animals where their menu consists of fresh ingredients directly from their farm.
Nearby was a picturesque chapel, a great location for little Zoe – Nike, to be baptized outside.
Without further ado, we exchanged ideas and created a farm style Bohemian Baptism concept to suit the beautiful environment of both the chapel and venue.
We meticulously designed the invitations and full stationery suite such as Save the Dates, RSVP’s, Menus and Bonbonniere cards to reflect the mood and style of the baptism.
Moving onto the floral décor, we picked out delicate and refined florals mixed with various dried flowers in the moody tones which complemented its natural surroundings and the bohemian concept. To make the scenery more interesting, all the large floral arrangements were displayed in boho baskets and huge wine glass jars as well as various shaped transparent boho style bottles for the dinner tables. A long garland was designed for the chapel.
The tables were placed in long rows with floral centerpieces running along the center, whilst each guest’s seating had linen napkins in alternating colors of olive green and mustard yellow, and a menu placed on each plate.
Sandra expressed that she wanted to create various stand corners for guests to mingle around in the reception area. We set up a Welcome Area, Wish Book stand, Dessert Bar, a show stopping Photo Backdrop and a Flower Garden overflowing with boho floral bouquets for guests to take on their way out, together with customized potted succulent Bonbonnieres placed on stylish shelves and wooden crates.
We aimed to create a modern boho-farm style rather than rustic-country, so we used abundant elegant wooden furnishings with an industrial touch..
While discussing ideas for the dessert bar, we envisioned a jaw-dropping Dessert Bar filled with fully customized cupcakes, cookies, cake pops on beautiful bookcases, as well as a delicious -looking fake cake displayed on a chic antique wooden console to achieve a homely farmhouse setting, to satisfy the guests’ sweet tooth!
As for the Photo Backdrop – there was no way around it – it had to be a showcase! Since it was a farm with a beautiful olive tree in the center of the venue, there was no doubt as to where it would be set up – especially since the baptism girl was to be named Zoe – Nike, which literally means ‘’Life’’. We designed a large balloon construction, consisting of all the color tones chosen, intertwining around the olive tree but without hiding it in any way. It all came together beautifully with the floral arrangements and haystacks which were used as seats in the forefront.
Sandra and Makis were further intrigued by the idea of having a live band playing during the reception. Some extremely talented family members and guests would also take part in the singing and the speeches and having a blast! It turned out to be a wonderful idea for a spring lunch reception!
The baptism was truly beautiful, and we had so much fun during the whole designing and planning process. We wish little Zoe – Nike a bright and wonderful life filled with love and happiness!
